Half Day - Scenic Rafting (Class I and II) - Pleasure Park to Austin
This stretch of the Gunnison River has Class I and II rapids, offering a more laid back experience. This 8-mile float is a great river trip for adults, families with young kids or youth clubs.
This half day trip is a relaxing float with wonderful scenic views of the rock canyon walls and desert ecology. Rafters will enjoy bird watching and maybe even some wildlife viewing.
You'll take a short hike to the Eagle Rock Shelter archaeological site inside the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation area. The site dates back 13,000 years. Petroglyph painted walls and ancient stone tools can be viewed at the site.
Rafters will continue their relaxing float through orchards, with views of the largest flat top mountain on the Grand Mesa. There are several great spots to get out and swim or stop and soak up some Colorado sunshine.
For rafters who want a little more adventure, we have single kayaks, double kayaks and paddle boards available to rent.
Your trip will conclude at a convenient and private take-out in Austin.
Note: Departure times can be flexible since Gunnison River Expeditions is located on the river and there is no additional drive-time before you depart on the river.
